In Plain English Assignments

The "In Plain English" tutorials are becoming quite popular on the internet. The thought was, "Why not use these as models for video projects." Enjoy!

Students: As you are working on enhanced podcasts, here is a handy checklist of things that should be included in quality enhanced podcasts:

  • Chapters (helps guide the audience through your topic)
  • Podcast Artwork (represents what is going to be watched)
  • Active urls...let your audience explore for further information
  • Powerpoint slides really help communicate your essential information
  • No extra at the end…when you are done the podcast should be done
  • Sources cited slide (easy on a powerpoint slide)
  • Pictures/Artwork/ppt slides should be sized accordingly
  • Ducking of music behind narration

Foreign Exchange Student Recipies: Check out the recipes from the exchange students that have been at PHS. The most recent recipie we tried was Chicken Curry from India.

RSS/XML/Podcasts are available: RSS is a web content syndication format. Its name is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication. This will allow you to monitor homework, messages, and listen to important audio information from the classroom (i.e. lectures, discussion, etc.). If you are using Firefox, you should also download a RSS reader like Sage. Both Firefox and Sage are free downloads. In order to make the rss feed work, you must copy the link into the rss reader:

Streaming Video requires Real Player which is a free download. To view any video project you will need either Quicktime or Real Player which are free downloads for both Mac and Windows.
