Exploring Educational Technology

Course Description:

The “curriculum” for this class is based, in part, on the technological requirements needed to be successful during high school as well as post high school. This course is 1 semester in length.

  • word processing: Word/Pages
  • presentation tools: Powerpoint/Keynote
  • spreadsheets: Excel/Numbers
  • digital media: Garageband/imovie/iweb

Students will also work on keyboarding skills

Course Requirements:

  • Things to bring everyday to class:
    • laptop computer
    • paper to write on
    • writing utensil
    • extra work or book to read (in case classwork is done)
  • Late-work will be accepted, but will only be given 1/2 credit.  To receive the possible full-credit, work must be turned in at the beginning of the class period

Grading:

Scale: 100-90 = A; 89-80 = B; 79-70 = C; 69-60 = D; 59-0 = F

Grades are determined by the following:

Classwork = 50%; Projects = 50%

Your semester grade is determined by the following:

1st Quarter = 50%; 2nd Quarter = 50%

  • All work must be turned in by 4 pm on the due date. 
  • Work turned in late will receive a maximum of 1/2 credit.
  • Just a reminder...when a student is absent due to sickness or emergency, all work must be made up upon their return.  They are given the total number of days that they were absent.
